I've had those kind of jobs where there was a lot of immediacy, thinking on your feet, and interpersonal dynamics in relationships. It takes a lot of energy and work and planning to get time away. So, years ago, I realized that aforementioned aphorism... I'm most productive when I'm 'going somewhere'.
I'm heading out tomorrow to Wanderlust in CO - as a Off the Mat Into the World training graduate, I'm really excited to going the OTM house, to get to network and just hang and play with other yogis and conscious activists, and to work the booth for OTM at the Festival, as well as Yoga and Party!
Wanderlust looks to be a great time, but truth be told, I'm just really excited for the experience of reconnecting with the touchstone of alchemy within that OTM activates in me. I'm just not able at this point to reliably carry that torch without frequent trips back to the source of that sweet fire, Agni - and the rejuvenation is provides.
I'll be honest, times are hard, people are disconnected and harried, and I've had my struggles. That is why it's so important to take some time away from what is usual. Call it Holiday, call it vacation, call it a mental health break, call it a retreat... just call out to it and find it.
Wanderlust offers me about 18 hours in the car, alone. Sure, with some music and some interesting sites along the way, but alone and as I recall from my Deadhead days and the long cross-country hauls, there is a pureness to the isolation of the solo driver, lost in the expanses and environs of the ole North American landmass.
I'll be driving to Colorado tomorrow, probably hitting a cheap motel to crash for a few hours in the panhandle/border of CO area, and then cruise into Denver, hit a Whole Foods to pack up on some vittles and libations, and then move on out to Copper Mountain Wednesday evening.
And it strikes me, I'm getting a lot done and even more administrated. I lost water on Friday and have had to coordinate city, trenchers, plumbers. I'm teaching my 3 classes today, laundry and packing and of course, a dozen errands. And the lesson... I'm getting an enormous amount done!!
Why - because I have my eyes on the prize!! Because there is a bigger burning YES on the horizon that make 'no' or 'not right now' NOT an option.
How does that manifest for y'all - have you experienced just how productive and focused you can be in the pursuit of something greater? So what is that greater? Daily, how do you tap into that 'greater'? Manifest, propel, plan, plot, machinate, and create!
That's what was on my mind as I 'got a lot done' and just sat down to take a breather!! Oh, that and road trip music??? - I've got to pack the 6-CD changer, and I'll need 2 or 3 reloads..
Suggestions for road trip CDs?? I've got a good variety at my disposal and love erratic shuffles so throw bands, genres or moods - I'll be thinking of y'all!
Be well, hit me with some grooves, give thanks and praise!
